Joanne Winterstein, a longtime health teacher and girls basketball coach at Andrew P. Hill High School, remembers a student who dropped out of high school 10 years ago because she got pregnant. Sex education at the time, Winterstein said, failed to expose the student to information that might have helped prevent this.
